Can Moringa Help You?

Moringa can aid in all type of health issues and is widely used in countries that have not introduced to modern medicine. In most cases this is a good thing, being that we may be subject to becoming sicker when given a whole host of so-called medicines. In most Asian, Latin and African countries traditional Ayurvedic* medicine is still the norm, regardless of the type of medicines that science of introduced in the past 150 years.
In my own case, I have been diagnosed with hypertension and had been given 3 different types of heart medicine also with meds for hypertension. At one point I was given a water pill that left me incapacitated and back in the hospital, as it depleted all of my potassium .( my blood pressure was even higher) Once I was given a dose of potassium, my blood pressure lowered rapidly. I continued to take was I was prescribed and had to deal with side effects. It took some getting used to, knowing that taking these meds could result in kidney, liver and heart damage. It was a give or take, high blood pressure or a whole host of other problems. My choice was to go the natural way. I control my blood pressure with all types of nutritious foods. You should still see your doctor and take meds prescribed, I am not condoning going off any type medication.

Six years ago I discovered Moringa and other types of herbs and read about different type of foods that can elevate blood pressure.
I read about food with plenty of potassium and magnesium as well as
Vitamins C, B12, B6 and many others. Moringa seemed to have it all.

Fruits such as Pineapple, Apricot helps me a great deal. All type of greens, eat them up. Find what fruit and Veggies work best for you. Sugars and some peppers can elevate blood pressure as well as most dairy foods, including milk. Pork and Rice are on the list to for raising blood pressure.
Cayenne pepper can lower your blood pressure very quickly.

*Ayurvedic medicine (“Ayurveda” for short) is one of the world's oldest holistic (“whole-body”) healing systems. It was developed more than 3,000 years ago in India. It's based on the belief that health and wellness depend on a delicate balance between the mind, body, and spirit.

Will Moringa Survive Even After A Food Stortage?

Apparently in most articles I have read about the future of food The Moringa Tree as been the center of discussion. government and industry are learning more and more about how one Moringa Tree and change with or not people die if there is indeed a severe food shortage. What would we do in this country when the inevitable happens. Maybe our children's grandchildren won't ever see an orange but they will know Moringa. After reading this and wanted to share it. Taken from Business World online:

Dining in 2050: locusts, moringa, earthworms and seaweed
"Future Feast" explores what people may eat when vast farmlands have disappeared and some species would have died out thanks to climate change. "The challenge was to present the future right now. We can’t think of this in 2050 when it’s too late," said Ms. Young. The result was a dining table loaded with dishes featuring unusual ingredients like locusts and earthworms. "When our food supply runs out, what on earth are we going to eat?," said Ms. Young, noting that these animals are "easier to be farmed. Essentially, you can find a way to farm them yourselves." Ms. Lumen served spicy locusts encased in sweet gelatin, and the flavors and texture of the spicy, crunchy insect and the sweetish and bouncing gelatin complimented each other. The locust gains a crunchy texture from being fried twice, and the spiciness comes from adobo powder and chilies. The clear gelatin also served as a visual tool. "My son, chef Joey (Herrera) said, ‘If you’re going to make them eat locusts, make them see what they’re eating,’" said Ms. Lumen. Mr. Del Rosario served up green-tinged panna cottas made with soy and moringa (malungay) leaves. He chose the moringa for a reason. "It can grow in the worst conditions, and yet they’re very nutritious," he said.

China, Cuba Cooperate on Moringa Research

With experts warning of a worldwide food shortage in the future, Chinese and Cuban scientists are collaborating to research the moringa plant, which may have a role in feeding the world's hungry.
The moringa is also called the miracle tree for its nutritional value. In 2008, the United States National Institutes of Health named the tree its "Plant of the Year".
"As a potential solution to malnutrition and food shortages, moringa research is urgently needed in China," said Li Guohua, director of the Yunnan Tropical Crops Research Institute.
He said Chinese scientists are researching and developing moringa-related products such as capsules, juice and tea to make the products more acceptable to Chinese.
In order to accelerate the research on the plant, China and Cuba are cooperating in moringa planting and manufacturing and opened a Sino-Cuban center in Xishuangbanna, the southernmost prefecture of Yunnan province, in April.
Li said the center, which covers about 12 hectares, would accelerate the industrialization of moringa products in China.
"China has no tradition of moringa planting and eating, but Cuba has and we can learn their advanced technologies," Li said.
The center's development plan from now until 2017 includes gardens in both China and Cuba and a regular exchange of scientists.
The cooperation covers seed exchanges, research and development of moringa products and personnel training and exchanges.
"We have introduced four varieties of moringa, which are still not enough for cultivating improved seeds," Li said, adding that moringa has 13 varieties.
